Flaine 2024

15th to 18th March 2024

Edinburgh Airport

There are 9 people flying from Edinburgh Airport on the Thursday afternoon, this is a two car trip.

The other 6 are flying from Edinburgh Airport on the Friday morning, with plans to stay over the night before.

A late minute additional team of 2 and a little one will be travelling from Glasgow on Friday.

Thursday flight is a 16:10 deaprture, so leaving Troon at midday for a 14:00 airport arrival.

The Friday flight is a 06:30am departure. Our experience of this flight on a Friday has been generally good, in terms of getting through security etc.

Everyone is responsible for their own Check-in, and Boarding Passes!

Geneva Airport and Transfers

Thursday flight - arrival is around 19:00 French time (+1 hour), with arrival at the hotel around 20:30.

Friday morning flight arrival is expected around 09:40 French time (+1 hour), so hopefully 12:00 at the hotel.

The Glasgow travellers will be at the hotel around 14:00.

To date it has taken us about 1 hour to get through Passport checks, and collect luggage at Geneva.

For the early Friday travellers, it's a good plan is to bring some food with you to keep you going if you want to head straight out skiing when you arrive at the hotel.

All equipment is available to hire at the hotel, which is probably the simplest due to short time in resort. Everyone is responsible for booking their own gear!

Evening Meals

The three nights have now been booked as follows;

Friday night - Buffet in the hotel - booked for 18:30 but is flexible and runs until 21:00.

Saturday night - Chez Daniel (https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g616132-d2578401-Reviews-Chez_Daniel-Flaine_Grand_Massif_Haute_Savoie_Auvergne_Rhone_Alpes.html) is booked for 21:00, its the only time they could offer after the Ireland / Scotland rugby game finishes.

Sunday night - Restaurant le Michet booked for 19:00- https://en.restaurantlemichet-flaine.com

Hometime Arrangements

Hopefully we will be out early and skiing on the Monday morning. Will need to be packed early, and leave luggage in the hotel. There is a shower / change room you can use after skiing so have easy access to anything you need.

Pickup at the hotel will be at 14:30, so you need to be back, skis handed back etc. and ready to jump in the bus. This will be for all of us (15) travelling back together.

Transfer back is again around 1:20hr, so about 16:00 at the airport.

Geneva is generally good at getting through checkin and security, so fingers crossed by 16:30 we are having a beer awaiting the flight.

Departure is 18:05, with arrival at Edinburgh at 19:25 UK time (-1hr), then home.

And then start planning Avoriaz 2025!
